Report – Ponce Inlet

I launched my kayak around 6:45am, just before the sun was over the tree tops. Today I had redfish on the brain, and with the fall bait run in full swing I decided to hit the area around Ponce Inlet.

Upon arrival in the area (a 2 mile paddle from the launch) I found that schools of finger mullet where everywhere. I decided to try tossing a top-water walk-the-dog type lure around the pods of bait. This worked well in attracting Jack Cravalle. In the first hour of fishing I landed 5 Jacks, up to 22”.

After growing tiered of fighting the Jacks I switched over to Berkley Gulp Alive Shrimp and bounced them off the bottom near the rocks. I hooked into 3 decent slot sized redfish (18”-27” slot here in Florida) and landed 2 of them.

The current from the incoming tide became to much to fight so I drifted back to the launch, catching a few trout on the way.

All-in-all a good day!
